UPDATE FROM ARCHBISHOP JOHN
regarding face coverings:
Face coverings will be mandatory in Places of Worship from Saturday 8th August 2020.
Full information on Corona Virus Page.
SUBJECT TO CHANGE
We are hopeful that in the following week,
subject to continued risk assessment,
the church will be open
Sunday 0900 and 1100
RULE OF SIX
The only exception to this new rule is where a single household (or support bubble) contains more
than six people, but the same rules on social interaction with others outside their group should apply.
No person who lives separately to this household or is not included in the support bubble is permitted
to accompany this larger group. This replaces previous rules where groups could be larger than six
people if they were made up of two households.
Government advice, via the Archbishop, on attendance states that we either have:
- a 2m social distancing seating plan so there is 2m in all directions between each person/household;
- a 1m plus (1m+*) social distancing seating plan. This means that there must be at least 1m in all directions between each person/household and the plus means that, in churches, everyone in the congregation should** wear a suitable face covering, unless exempt.
* we are imagining that, subject to numbers, we may need to go to 1m+ for some Masses.
** we have changed this to should, rather than must, but hope that our congregation will adhere to this guidance.
Finally, we are required to create an accurate record of Mass attendees, from July 4th.
This information will be held securely for 21 days.
Our records will include: Name of person/household group; note of a suitable method (telephone number, address, email address) for Test and Trace staff to make contact.
Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
REGULAR MASS TIMES
The cessation of public celebrations of the Mass and the dispensation of the Obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days commenced on March 20th, 2020 and remains in place.
Even though we are able to start opening our church, the above still stands.
Vulnerable and Immunocompromised parishioners should continue to isolate/shield until further notice.
As a Parish, YOUR health ALWAYS comes first.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Yours in Christ
