Event History

Well done to the children at St Mary's who performed a very beautiful Nativity play in the church on the evening of 11th December.

Congratulations to all the staff involved in putting together the production!

On the Feast of Christ the King, 23rd November, the children talked about how kindnesses they do for each other, are kindnesses they also do for Jesus.

 The children decorated paper crowns.

At the end of Mass, before processing out together, the children were reminded by Fr Duncan that at their baptism they were all baptised as "priest, prophet and king".

On Remembrance Sunday the children's liturgy group produced a display of paper poppies in their own tribute to "Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red".
Many thanks to Di and Charlotte from the Medialle Trust who spoke at all of the Masses over the weekend of 25th and 26th October.

The Medialle Trust is a Catholic charity set up by religious to support victims of human trafficking.

There is more information on their website www.medialle.co.uk
It was lovely to see Joanna on Sunday 26th October!

Thank you for bringing cake from Poland to share with the Parish - it was delicious.

Congratulations to Fr Duncan who celebrated the 15th Anniversary of his  Ordination on Pentecost Sunday.

The Children's Liturgy Group presented him with a book of prayers that they had written for him, along with a present and a cake with 15 lit candles, during the Offertory Procession at the 9am Mass.

Ad Multos Annos.

On the afternoon of May 8th Fr Duncan visited Classes R and 1 at St Mary's to talk about Our Lady and the Rosary.

Happy Easter!  It was wonderful to see so many people in the Church for the Easter Vigil and the Masses on Easter Day.

I don't know how many adults there were but I know how many Easter eggs had been bought for the children and we welcomed over 100 children alone!

Thank you to the flower arrangers and church cleaners, the church looked beautiful, and to all the musicians and the servers.

Well done to the children who came along for the family stations of the cross on Good Friday.

Afterwards we had hot cross buns and wrote prayers and good wishes to send via helium balloons to Pope Francis at the Vatican!

The children in Italy are told (when the church bells fall silent on Maundy Thursday) that the bells have flown to the Vatican to return with Easter eggs on Easter Day, when they will ring again.

We sent our balloons off hoping they would come back with Easter eggs from Rome!

"I was thirsty and you gave me drink"

Thank you to everyone in the Parish who contributed so generously to the 'water jug' for Cafod.

We have raised enough money for the Parish to pay for 27 wells so far - well done!

Your life saving gift of clean water means that many children now have a chance to grow up without the risk of potentially fatal water borne diseases.

This Lenten exercise has shown us the joy of the Gospel at work - your generosity has blessed many poor people who are close to God's heart - thank you.

We had one final donation for the ‘water jug’ fund for Cafod last week, bringing the total amount raised in our Parish to £1,023 for 31 wells.

Congratulations and thank you to everyone who contributed.

Palm Sunday 2014

Congratulations to classes 3 and 4 at St Mary's who gave a very moving performance of Rolling Back the Stone in the church on Tuesday 1st April.

Thank you to those of you who came along to enjoy the performance and support the children.

Congratulations to Dylan and Ruby who made their First Holy Communion on Laetare Sunday, please pray for them as they continue their journey of faith.

Very well done to the Children's Liturgy Group for raising £160.22 after Mass on Mothering Sunday with their bake sale.

Together with the Gospel Experience Group the children have raised enough money to buy 15 wells through Cafod for communities where clean water is so desperately needed.

It was lovely to see Natalia and Jordi last weekend! Come back and see us again soon.

We celebrated George's birthday on the Feast if the Presentation of Our Lord on 2nd February, which is also Candlemas.

Well done to the children's liturgy group for making some beautiful and thoughtful prayer card bookmarks!
